Lane Reduction Planned for Next Week Along I-40

CLEMMONS – Drivers should be on the lookout for a lane reduction on Interstate 40 East next week near the Davie-Forsyth county line.

As part of the project to widen the interstate and replace the bridges over the Yadkin River, I-40 East is set to be reduced to one lane from just east of N.C. 801 (Exit 180) to just east of Harper Road (Exit 182) from 7 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Friday.

This lane closure will enable the contractor to safely apply a new layer of asphalt and prepare for the upcoming traffic shift to the two inside lanes of the new alignment. The work is weather dependent and may be subject to change.

Drivers should slow down when approaching the Bermuda Run/Clemmons area on I-40 East next week and be mindful of crews working near the travel lanes throughout the work zone.
