NASHVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to convert a Nash County crossroads into an all-way stop to improve safety.
Departmental employees will make the change Wednesday at Taylor Store and Castalia roads, north of Nashville. Currently, motorists on Castalia Road must stop, but not those on Taylor Store Road.
The work will begin around 8 a.m. and be completed by early afternoon. If it rains, the project will be rescheduled.
Drivers should avoid the intersection, if possible, at this time; otherwise, they should travel through it cautiously and expect delays until the improvements are completed.
Converting intersections into all-way stops has been shown to reduce fatalities and injuries by 77%. Visit the NCDOT's all-way stop webpage for more information.
