Upcoming Closures on I-40 in Forsyth County

​WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend, contract crews will have several nightly closures for the ongoing improvement project along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County into the following week, weather permitting.

Starting tonight at 8 p.m., contractors will close one lane of I-40 East between mile marker 191 and 192 to make pavement improvements to the shoulder. Work is expected to be complete Monday.

The following lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.:

  • Oct. 17-18, two of three lanes will be closed on I-40 East just west of the I-40/U.S. 421 split to east of Hanes Mall Boulevard.
  • Oct. 19-21, two of three lanes will be closed on I-40 East from Hanes Mall Boulevard to Peters Creek Parkway.
  • Oct. 17-18, two of three lanes will be closed on I-40 West from Peters Creek Parkway to Hanes Mall Boulevard.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zones and allow additional time to reach their destination safely.
