WINSTON-SALEM – Today, N.C. Department of Transportation construction crews began alterations to the traffic pattern for an intersection in Forsyth County.
The crossover at the intersection of University Parkway and Cherry Street is closed and islands and dedicated turn lanes are being constructed at the crossroads. The left turn lanes of University Parkway will remain closed in both directions and the inside lanes of University Parkway will be closed from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. as needed for the duration of the project. Traffic from the Cherry Street and shopping center sides will no longer be able to cross over or make left turns at the intersection.
Work is expected to be complete by early spring 2022, weather permitting.
Motorists should use caution while approaching the work zone and plan for a longer commute as they adjust to the new traffic pattern.
