North Carolina Rail Transportation Sees Continued Success

RALEIGH – With more than 3,600 miles of railroad tracks across North Carolina that benefit freight and passenger trains, the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Rail Division provides critical services while ensuring the state’s rail infrastructure is prepared for the future.

This year’s notable achievements include opening an intermodal facility in Rocky Mount, making substantial progress on Phase 1 of Charlotte Gateway Station, and continued efforts to establish high performance rail service between Raleigh and Richmond on the S-Line.
