AUTRYVILLE – A pipe replacement scheduled to begin next week in Sampson County will require a road closure for the safety of crews.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Autryville Road near DeWitt Williams Road from 9 a.m. Feb. 28 until 5 p.m. March 11.
Maintenance crews will replace an undersized pipe with a larger one. The new pipe will provide better drainage and help mitigate potential flooding to nearby properties and roadway during major storm events.
Drivers can use Mount Carmel Church, Yellow Skin and DeWitt Williams roads to get around the closure.
NCDOT urges drivers to use caution and slow down near the work zone and account for a longer commute for about two weeks.
