RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation crews are planning overnight closures of Hillsborough Street next week as a part of the Interstate 440 Improvements Project.
On Monday through Friday nights from midnight to 5 a.m. the next day, both directions of Hillsborough Street will close at the I-440 interchange as crews continue work to set girders for the new highway bridge over Hillsborough Street, Beryl Road, and the railroad tracks. A similar closure had been in place on Beryl Road in recent weeks.
Eastbound Hillsborough Street drivers will be detoured at Blue Ridge Road onto Beryl Road to get to the east side of the interchange.
Westbound drivers will be detoured onto I-440 East to Wade Avenue to I-440 West to get to the other side of the interchange.
Motorists need to pay attention near the work zone and anticipate needing extra time for the detours.
