WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.
The following lane closures are scheduled to take place on from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:
- On March 20, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from the U.S. 52 to Peter's Creek Parkway.
- On March 20 and 21, two of three lanes on I-40 East will be closed from the U.S. 421/I-40 split to west of Peter's Creek Parkway.
- On March 21, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from east of Peters Creek Parkway to Hanes Mall Boulevard.
The following closures are scheduled to take place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:
- On March 20 and 21, the offramp from I-40 East (Exit 189) to Stratford Road is scheduled to be closed. A signed detour will be in place directing motorist to US-52 and to I-40 West to return to Stratford Road.
- On March 20 and 21, the I-40 east onramp from Hanes Mall Blvd. is scheduled to be closed from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am the following morning. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic to Stratford Rd and Silas Creek Parkway to return to I-40 east.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zones and expect delays due to the detours.
