Pavement Investigation Planned Next Week in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to close a section of U.S. 52 in Forsyth County next week for a maintenance project, weather permitting.

On April 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the right lane of U.S. 52 North will be closed between Exits 110C and 111A so that crews can safely investigate the cause of a concrete pavement failure.

If the pavement failure is not caused by a failure in the storm drainage system underground, the pavement will be repaired that day and the road will be reopened by April 6. If the pavement failure is the result of an issue with the storm drainage system under the roadway, then a thorough investigation will be conducted and plan for further repairs will be scheduled at a later date.

The alternative date for work to begin will be April 7.

Drivers should use caution when approaching the work zone or seek alternate routes.
