RALEIGH – If you're stranded on a highway, you can still dial *HP for roadway assistance, but be on the lookout because North Carolina's favorite safety patrol vehicles will be getting a new look.
Starting today, the N.C. Department of Transportation's Incident Management Assistance Patrol program (IMAP) vehicles will be sporting the logo of its newest sponsor, GEICO. The wrap on the trucks will be transitioning to GEICO's white and blue color scheme and logo with the iconic gecko mascot. Signage for the fleet will also be updated to reflect the sponsorship change.
“We're pleased to have GEICO as a sponsor for our safety patrols," said State Traffic Systems Operations Engineer Jennifer Portanova. “The IMAP program is a significant part of NCDOT's ongoing efforts to keep our roadways safe and meet the needs of North Carolina's citizens."
GEICO's sponsorship of IMAP is currently confirmed for one year. The contract for all sponsorships is coordinated by Travelers Marketing.
The IMAP program serves multiple cities across the state, providing free services to all stranded motorists and helping to keep traffic on major roadways flowing smoothly and safely. Some of the specialized tools utilized by the patrol vehicles include specially designed push bumpers, fuel pumps, warning lights and most recently tethered drones.
The newly-wrapped trucks will be staged during a ribbon-cutting event on June 23 for the grand opening of the NCDOT Traffic Incident Management Training and Development Track in Raleigh, an outdoor facility available for first responder training.
