RALEIGH – A project to improve the intersection of U.S. 70/South Church Street and University Drive in Burlington will soon get underway.
The project will add lanes and turn lanes at the intersection, upgrade U.S. 70 between Alamance Memorial Park to the west and Westbrook Avenue to the east, and include new pavement, traffic signals and extended culverts.
Work on the nearly $14 million contract, awarded to the Thompson Arthur Division of APAC Atlantic Inc., can begin in July and is scheduled for substantial completion by summer 2024.
Drivers should expect lane closures as crews update the roads in this area, and watch out for workers near the travel lanes for the duration of the project.
