Planned Closures Starting This Weekend on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – Starting Sunday and continuing Monday, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes and ramps of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 5-6, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from Hanes Mall Boulevard to east of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On June 5-6, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from Union Cross Road to the Guilford County line.
  • On June 5, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from Highpoint Road to the U.S. 311/74 interchange.
  • On June 5-6, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on the exit ramp from I-40 West (Exit 188) to U.S. 421 North.
  • On June 5, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from Highway 66 to Union Cross Road. 

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 5-6, two lanes are scheduled to be closed on the Peters Creek bridge in both the northbound and southbound directions.
  • On June 5, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Union Cross Road is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On June 6, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour. 

M​otorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.​
