Elizabethtown Bridge Naming
A bridge over Browns Creek in Bladen County is now named in honor of the late James “J.C.” Batchelor Jr.
The Elizabethtown bridge recognizes Batchelor, who served for 20 years on the town’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and six years on its Planning Board.
Leaders from the state Department of Transportation, Elizabethtown and Bladen County were present for the ceremony.
Batchelor was well known for civic service, being awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the governor and Outstanding Service and Devotion from Four-County Community Services Inc.
NC by Train $5 Kids Fare
From now until Aug. 31, NC by Train is offering a one-way, $5 kid’s fare special.
These discounts are valid for one child with each paying adult on Piedmont and Carolinian trains traveling in North Carolina. This deal cannot be combined with another discount.
