Closures Scheduled on I-40 in Forsyth County

​WINSTON-SALEM – Starting tonight, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will implement ramp and lane closures on Interstate 40 for construction and ongoing maintenance projects, weather permitting.

The following closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • From tonight to July 14, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from the Guilford County line to Union Cross Road.
  • Tonight, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to Hanes Mall Boulevard.
  • From July 13-14, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to west of Peters Creek Parkway.

The following closures are scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • Tonight, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Hanes Mall Boulevard is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. with a signed detour.

  • Tonight, the onramp from Highway 66 to I-40 West is tentatively scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. to midnight with a signed detour.

  • Tonight, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Highway 66 is tentatively scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. to midnight with a signed detour.
  • After the two Highway 66 ramps are reopened tonight, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Union Cross Road is tentatively scheduled to be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. with a signed detour​.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.
