GASTONIA - The N.C. Department of Transportation will have several nights of closures starting this weekend for a maintenance project on Interstate 85 in Gaston County.
From Aug. 28-31, the two right lanes of I-85 South will be closed between mile markers 13.5 and 9 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. This closure is necessary to allow crews to safely repair potholes along the interstate.
Work is expected be complete by Sept. 1 on the southbound lanes and crews plan to begin work on the northbound side following the Labor Day weekend.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in the work zone.
