HICKORY - Construction on the southbound U.S. 321 Bridge over the Catawba River will be halted this weekend due to the forecasted impact of Hurricane Ian.
This was the final of three scheduled weekend closure dates to complete the critical rehabilitation project.
Construction will continue Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. just for the weekend. Both directions of traffic will be placed in a one-lane pattern on the U.S. 321 North bridge over the lake. Drivers should anticipate delays going north or south as vehicles merge from two lanes into one lane once construction resumes.
