ROCKINGHAM – Richmond County drivers will soon have a smoother ride on approximately seven miles of roadway, thanks to a $1.9 million contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded this week.
Improvements in the contract include one segment of U.S. 220 from the bridge over I-73/I-74 to just south of the Ellerbe town limits and portions of Page St. Extension, Caddell Road and Biltmore Drive.
The contractor, Hudson Paving Inc. of Rockingham, can start the project as early as March 1, 2023, and complete the project by Oct. 1, 2024.
