MONROE – Next week, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close Belk Mill Road between U.S. 601 and Medlin Road to replace the bridge over Lanes Creek. The $1 million project was awarded in August to Mt. Airy contractor Smith-Rowe, LLC.
Crews will close the bridge on Monday, Jan. 9. The contract calls for the bridge to open in fall 2023, allowing for vegetation establishment to continue through spring 2024.
A signed detour will be in place using Medlin Road, Landsford Road and U.S. 601 to access Belk Mill Road.
