WINSTON-SALEM – N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews are closing lanes of Interstate 40 for three days next week to repair a failing storm drainage structure in the median.
Beginning Jan. 10, the left eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. near mile marker 187. Only the eastbound shoulder of the route will remain closed overnight. Work is expected to be complete by Jan. 12, weather-permitting.
Work will be rescheduled for Jan. 17-19 if necessary.
Drivers are encouraged to use additional caution while traveling through the work zones.
