This Week at NCDOT: Jonesville Bridge Dedication, State of Aviation Report, Transportation Summit

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

Jonesville Bridge Dedication

Officials with the N.C. Department of Transportation dedicated the bridge on N.C. 21 crossing Jonesville Creek to L. Eugene Pardue.

Pardue was the mayor of Jonesville from 2013 until December 2022. Pardue attended Jonesville High School and Surry Community College. He also served as mayor for the nearby Town of Arlington for many years and played a vital role in the merger of Arlington and Jonesville.

State of Aviation Report

North Carolina publicly owned airports contribute $72 billion dollars to the state’s economy each year, and support nearly 333,000 jobs. That’s according to a report released early this month by the department’s division of Aviation.

NCDOT creates the report every two years to help guide future investments in aviation infrastructure and provide a tool for recruiting companies. If you would like to know more, go to NCDOT.gov and search aviation.
