I-240 Overnight Closure Allows for Overhead Sign Replacement

ASHEVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will utilize an overnight closure of Interstate 240 East on March 20 to replace an overhead exit sign.

The contractor, Green Light Electric Inc., is scheduled to close I-240 at Patton Avenue (Exit 4B) no earlier than 7 p.m. next Monday so crews can replace a broken overhead sign announcing the Merrimon Avenue exit.

All I-240 East traffic will be diverted off the interstate at Patton Avenue. Drivers may turn left at Broadway Street and travel three blocks to rejoin I-240 East.

The new sign will be covered with a special highly reflective sheeting which allows the contractor to remove electric lighting as part of this operation.
