NCDOT Wins Grant to Expand Traveler Alert System
Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the NCDOT a $1.5 million grant. The grant will allow NCDOT to expand its real-time traveler alert system.
The grant comes from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s new Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation program.
North Carolina Work Zone Awareness Week
The National Work Zone Memorial will be unveiled next week at the
Northampton County Welcome Center. The traveling memorial honors people who died in work zones and includes a tribute to NCDOT's Anna Bradshaw.
Bradshaw was killed when a motorist struck her while she was working in Wilson County work zone last August.
The traveling memorial will be on display at the rest stop as part of North Carolina Work Zone Awareness Week April 3-7. An event is planned for April 3 to encourage safe driving in work zones.
NCDOT Innovation and Research Summit
Research and innovation are big priorities as the transportation world faces huge changes in the coming years.
This week hundreds of transportation professionals and university researchers came together in Raleigh for the 4th Annual NCDOT Research and Innovation Summit.
The two-day summit at N.C. State’s McKimmon Center showcased innovative research results, technologies and practices.
