WILMINGTON – Work to improve multiple streets in Wilmington is underway and is expected to be complete by June.
Upgrades will be done along Market Street from 3rd Street to Wetsig Road; Independence Boulevard from Shipyard Boulevard to Oleander Drive; and South 3rd Street from Market to Wooster streets.
Work includes, curb and gutter repair, curb ramp retrofit construction, and milling and resurfacing, which includes new pavement markings.
Crews will need to close a lane on the affected corridors overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday to complete the work, which is weather dependent.
The N.C. Department of Transportation encourages drivers to slow down, and when possible, avoid the area.
