N.C. Turnpike Authority Executive Director, J.J. Eden, Inducted into ARTBA Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON, D.C. – N.C. Turnpike Authority (NCTA) Executive Director, J.J. Eden, was inducted into the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Foundation's “Transportation Development Hall of Fame" for his innovation as co-founder of E-ZPass.

Established in 1902, ARTBA represents the public and private sector members of the transportation design and construction industry before Congress, the White House, federal agencies, news media and general public. The award-winning association is a “federation whose primary goal is to aggressively grow and protect transportation infrastructure investment to meet the public and business demand for safe and efficient travel."

In 1988, Eden co-founded the Interagency Group, E-Z Pass. He was instrumental in writing the business rules and operating procedures for the group and eventually helped launch the program in 1990 across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Today, E-Z Pass is the world's largest interoperable toll collection program, serving 45 million transponders across 19 states.

As NCTA Executive Director, Eden continues to develop innovations to prepare North Carolina for the future of transportation.
