WINSTON-SALEM – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close part of U.S. 52 in Forsyth County this weekend for a maintenance project that began in March.
This Saturday at midnight, the ramp from U.S. 421 North to U.S. 52 North (Exit 232B) and the right two lanes of U.S. 52 will be closed. The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely replace two broken concrete slabs on U.S. 52 North near Exit 109B, seal the widened pavement joints and clean out storm drainage boxes in the area.
Traffic will follow a signed detour from U.S. 421 North to the cloverleaf interchange to use U.S. 52 South (Exit 232C) and U.S. 421 South (Exit 109A) to access U.S. 52 North (Exit 232B).
The closure will remain in place until the new slabs have sufficient strength to allow traffic. The road is expected to reopen early Sunday morning.
Work is dependent on weather and will be rescheduled for the subsequent Saturdays until all repairs are complete.
Motorists should slow down and remain alert in the work zone.
