GREENVILLE – A state highway contractor started a project to refresh the pavement along South Memorial Drive (N.C. 11) today.
The repaving will be done between U.S. 264 Alternate (Greenville Boulevard) in Greenville and N.C. 102 in Ayden. The work involves removing the top layer of the deteriorating pavement in a process known as milling, then resurfacing the road and placing new lane markings.
Drivers should expect daytime lane closures for the section between N.C. 102 and N.C. 903, and then nighttime lane closures for the section between N.C. 903 and Greenville Boulevard.
Drivers should slow down and proceed cautiously through these work zones, which will last intermittently until these improvements are completed by the end of this year.
