New Rail Service

After record ridership last year, NC By Train is adding more trains and new schedules beginning next week.

The Department of Transportation was awarded grants last week that will benefit communities in seven counties.

The Federal Transit Administration Grants are aimed at helping public transportation providers improve service and shift to low and zero emission transit buses.

The grants, which total over 5.5 million dollars, were applied for, and will be administered by NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division.

The Bus and Low and No-Emission Grants Program announced 130 awards totaling 1.7 billion dollars that will be used for public transportation nationwide.
