ROCKY MOUNT – An internet outage interrupted service Monday at the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ driver license office at the Hope Valley Commons Shopping Center on S. Roxboro St in Durham.
Frontier Communications, a local internet service provider, reported the outage at approximately 9:30 a.m. following an apparent fiber cut near the office location.
Officials with both Frontier and Spectrum are working to restore service as soon as possible. The companies did not have a timetable for when service could be restored.
NCDMV officials are reminding people that many services, such as driver license and vehicle registration renewals, vehicle tax payments, and address changes, can be completed online without visiting an office. People can visit the official NCDMV website at
MyNCDMV.gov to learn if they can complete their business online.
For in-person services, other nearby offices include:
• East Durham, 101 S. Miami Blvd.
• Carrboro, 100 N.C. Hwy. 54, Suite 104-J
• Cary, 1387 S.E. Maynard Rd.
