HOPE MILLS – The construction of the Fayetteville Outer Loop (Interstate 295) interchange at Camden Road will require a permanent traffic change.
Farm Circle Road's connection with Camden Road will be permanently closed on Aug. 23 and replaced with a cul-de-sac.
The change affects about two dozen households, which instead will use Mill Creek Road nearby to access Camden Road.
Contract crews are building the I-295 interchange consisting of a bridge and ramps, and they are widening Camden Road close to its intersection with Farm Circle Road. The project is part of a $152 million contract awarded last year by the N.C. Department of Transportation to build five more miles of the outer loop.
The contractor anticipates partially opening this new interchange, which will be Exit 7, by mid-2024 so drivers can hop onto I-295 and go south to Exit 2.
All of the remaining segments under construction that will complete I-295 are scheduled to be opened by 2026.
