MATTHEWS – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue to temporarily close two ramps at the I-485/N.C. 51 interchange in Matthews. The closures are necessary to safely continue paving operations associated with the I-485 express lanes project.
Starting Sunday night, the loop and ramp from I-485 Outer to U.S. 74 East & West will be closed. Drivers will be detoured along the outer loop to Idlewild Road (exit 49) where drivers can turn around to access the inner loop.
These closures will be in place every night from midnight to 5 a.m. through Saturday morning, Aug. 26. Drivers should be mindful of crews working in these locations and allow extra time to reach their destination.
