LIBERTY - A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will perform nightly closures on a section of U.S. 421 in Randolph County this week.
Beginning tonight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews from Ames Construction will close the southbound lanes of U.S. 421 near Julian to install roadway girders for the construction of a new bridge at the Julian Airport Road interchange. The closure will repeat on Tuesday night.
Likewise, the northbound lanes of U.S. 421 will be closed near Julian Airport Road between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the nights of Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.
Offsite detours will be signed to assist motorists.
The detour routes are as follows:
- Southbound U.S. 421 (August 21 and August 22):
- Turn right onto Shiloh Road and follow to U.S. 421.
- Northbound U.S. 421 (August 24 and August 25):
- Turn right onto Julian Airport Road and follow to Old U.S. 421.
- Turn left onto Old U.S. 421 and follow to N.C. 62 North.
- Turn left onto N.C. 62 North and follow to U.S. 421 North.
- Turn right onto U.S. 421 northbound ramp.
