HAMPTONVILLE - The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to temporarily close U.S. 21 next week at two intersections in Yadkin County.
Beginning the morning of Sept. 18, the intersection of Hamptonville Road and Petty Road will be closed as crews work to replace a drainage pipe.
Following the completion of the work, crews will reopen the intersection and move north on U.S. 21 to close the intersection with Key Street to complete a pipe replacement at that location as well.
Both projects are planned to be completed by the evening of Sept. 21, weather permitting.
Signed message boards will be in place to alert drivers to the closure and detour to Petty Road and Hoots Road.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution when approaching the work zone and detour.
