GOLDSBORO – Almost 2.5 miles of a Wayne County road will soon see drainage improvements.
State highway maintenance crews will replace several aging drainage pipes underneath Church of God Road between N.C. 111 and Antioch Road northeast of Goldsboro, as this blue line on a Google map depicts.
The crews will work on one pipe at a time, requiring the road to close to through traffic at that location. They will start on the east end near Antioch Road and move westward.
Crews will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, and they expect to complete the improvements by Dec. 1. However, the road will remain open during the Thanksgiving holiday between Nov. 22-26.
The detour for each location will vary. Drivers should follow the detour signs, plan for a longer commute, and approach the work site with caution.
These pipe replacements are being done before this stretch of roadway is resurfaced in the near future.
