FAYETTEVILLE – A Fayetteville intersection will temporarily close starting next week to finish construction of a roundabout.
Starting at 8 a.m. Monday, drivers will not be able to use the intersection of Camden Road and Whitfield Street. They will be detoured onto the nearby Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway via the Robeson Street and Gillespie Street exits.
Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation need the closure to safely pour the concrete for the center island and do paving around the circle.
Crews anticipate completing the roundabout and reopening the intersection by Dec. 8, if the weather cooperates.
Drivers should plan for a longer commute using the detour and approach the work site with caution.
