Brunswick County License Plate Agency to Close Next Wednesday

ROCKY MOUNT –The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Brunswick Co. will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 after the current operator’s contract ends.

The current agency, at 5300 S. Main St., Suite A, in Shallotte, has been operated by Deborah Meadows since 1982.

NCDMV announced in November an application period for a new contractor in Brunswick Co. and plans to open a location there under a new contractor as soon as possible.

In the meantime, three nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday:

• Bolivia, 30 Government Dr. NE, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Whiteville, 201 E. Main St., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Wilmington, 2390 Carolina Beach Rd., Suite 108, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 121 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
