S-Line Rail Grant
North Carolina is receiving more than $1 billion to design and build the first segment of the
S-Line, a high-performance passenger rail line to better connect North Carolina and Virginia, and rural and urban communities in North Carolina.
Harkers Island Bridge Replacement
Residents on
Harkers Island are celebrating the grand opening of the new bridge that gets them to and from the mainland. Opening one year ahead of schedule! The 3,200-foot-long, fixed-span bridge was built over the straits to the east of the existing Earl C. Davis Memorial Bridge.
Dr. Dock J. Jordan and Carrie Thomas Jordan Highway Dedication
Drivers in Durham travelling on Fayetteville Street near North Carolina Central University’s campus will see a recently named section from Lawson Street to Timothy Avenue the Dr. Dock J. Jordan and Carrie Thomas Jordan Highway. The road naming honors the couples’ work as educators and social justice advocates who spent their lives supporting and investing in the people that would become Durham’s future.
Booze It & Lose It
At NCDOT, we want everyone to have a good time during the holidays, but we also want everyone to be safe. To help encourage safe driving, the Governor’s Highway Safety Program is holding its holiday
“Booze it & Lose It” campaign now through January 1st. You will see increased patrols enforcing impaired driving laws.
