PLEASANT GARDEN – A long term road closure with an on-site detour will allow a contractor for the N.C Department of Transportation to begin replacing a bridge over Polecat Creek in Guilford County.
Crews from R.E. Burns & Sons Co. Inc will close E. Steeple Chase Road on March 20, and per the contract, they have 180 days to complete the replacement.
A detour will guide traffic North of the work site turning onto E. Sheraton Park Road and then traffic will be routed South to get back to the intersection of E. Steeple Chase Road. Throughout the duration of the construction the road will be blocked from through traffic in both directions and barricades will be in place to stop traffic from entering.
This nearly $1.3 million project will replace the existing bridge with one that features wider lanes, about 11 feet each, and shoulders that are wider than the existing bridge.
Drivers should remain cautious and alert when approaching the work zone and factor the detour into their trips.
