The N.C. Department of Transportation has once again garnered recognition as a military friendly employer.
The department was recently honored as a 2023 3-Star Military Friendly Employer by VETS Indexes. This award recognizes NCDOT's commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting veterans and the military connected community.
“We proudly support our nation's heroes, who have made sacrifices in defense of our country and for our freedoms," state Transportation Secretary Eric Boyette said. “We are grateful our efforts at being a military friendly employer have been recognized."
This year, a record number of 239 organizations participated in the VETS Indexes Employer Awards. Only those that demonstrated a strong commitment to veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses were awarded across various award levels.
NCDOT is constantly recruiting to find talented employees and fill vacancies across North Carolina. The department has improved its ability to attract and retain veterans by increasing outreach to veterans, transitioning military, National Guard, military spouses, and military families.
NCDOT provides Veteran's Preference to qualified military veterans applying to career with NCDOT.
“We are proud to provide opportunities for the military community to continue to serve through the public sector," said Amanda Olive, NCDOT HR Director. “It's a great opportunity for the military community to be a part of the State they love."
