NCDMV License & Theft Employee Assists Cold Case
A local cold case making national news is getting new answers thanks to the help of a N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles employee.
Inspector R.T. Hickman works in the
License & Theft Bureau office in Washington, NC.
Hickman was part of the team assisting in a cold case from 1982, which involved three missing men that were last seen in a Chevrolet Camaro. The 1975 model car was recently found in a local creek and Hickman used his skills to identify the VIN number on the deteriorating vehicle that went missing and belonged to one of the men.
"Where the serial number on the engine was found had about 8 inches of mud caked on it. Once we were able to remove that mud from it, it was pretty simple," Hickman said.
