RALEIGH - Drivers on N.C. 55 in Wake and Durham counties will see a much-improved drive from south of High House Road to T.W. Alexander Road thanks to a recent contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Fred Smith Company out of Raleigh will resurface nearly 13 miles of N.C. 55 under the $5 million contract. Work can start as early as this April with final completion expected in fall of 2025.
Paving will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to help minimize traffic impacts.
