Railroad Improvements Ahead of Pitt County Road Widening

GREENVILLE – A portion of Allen Road will be closed for railroad improvements ahead of the road being widened in the future.

Weather dependent, between July 11- 15, the road at the railroad tracks near Landfill Road will be closed to traffic. The N.C. Department of Transportation will insert railroad tubs at the track’s approaches, creating a smoother ride for drivers.

While the road is closed, drivers can take Stantonsburg Road, U.S. 264 and U.S. 264 Alternate or Stantonsburg Road, West Arlington Boulevard and Dickinson Avenue.

Drivers should plan ahead as their commute will take longer than normal and use caution near the construction site.

This work is necessary before the contractor begins widening Allen Road, which is anticipated to begin next year. To read more about the project, visit this project page
