RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close a section of Western Boulevard multiple nights so crews can safely set girders on the new I-440 East bridge over Western Boulevard, weather permitting.
Crews will close the section of Western Boulevard just west of Chaney Road to east of Blue Ridge Road. Both direction of Western Boulevard will be closed tonight and Wednesday nights. Just eastbound lanes will be closed on Tuesday night and and Thursday night. Start time for this work will begin at 9 p.m., reopening at 5 each morning.
Eastbound Western Boulevard traffic will detour to Interstate 440 West, exit to Melbourne Road then take I-440 East to Hillsborough Street and then take Gorman Street to get back to Western Boulevard.
Drivers are advised to use caution while traveling through the work zone and to plan accordingly for delays.
