RALEIGH - The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction activities on and around the newly opened Complete 540 Project, which extends the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.
The following key construction impacts have been outlined to assist in planning and navigating through upcoming closures:
- Toll N.C. 540 Westbound
- Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound
- East Allen Street
- Wake Tech Way
- Johnson Pond Road
- Sunset Lake Road
Please see the additional details below with more information about each closure. Drivers may see flaggers on the roadway, should expect delays and should use caution when traveling through the work zone.
Toll N.C. 540 Westbound
Beginning on or around Friday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Toll N.C. 540 westbound between mile marker 38.2 and 39.2 is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
Additionally, beginning on or around Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, Toll N.C. 540 westbound between mile marker 38.2 and 42.0 is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound
Beginning on or around Sunday, October 6 through Friday, October 11 from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. nightly, the ramp at exit 36 on Toll N.C. 540 eastbound is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
Additionally, beginning on or around Monday, October 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, October 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Toll N.C. 540 eastbound between mile marker 38.6 and 39.2 is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
East Allen Street
Beginning on or around Friday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., East Allen Street off of U.S. 401/Fayetteville Road is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
Wake Tech Way
Beginning on or around Friday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wake Tech Way off of U.S. 401/Fayetteville Road is scheduled to temporarily close to through traffic. Drivers should expect delays and should pay close attention when driving in the area. Drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid the area, if possible.
Drivers can access Wake Technical Community College Southern Wake Campus through the Old McCullers Road, Advantage Way and Tech Road entrances.
The road closure has been coordinated with Wake Technical Community College Southern Wake Campus and will allow for continued operations during construction activities.
Johnson Pond Road
Beginning on or around Thursday, October 7 through Saturday, October 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, Johnson Pond Road between Oak Park Drive and Ten Ten Road is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
Sunset Lake Road
Beginning on or around Thursday, October 14 through Sunday, October 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, Sunset Lake Road between Lockley Road and Edwards Drive is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures.
