CLEVELAND COMMUNITY – A Johnston County intersection being rebuilt into a roundabout to improve safety requires a week-long closure this month.
A state highway contractor plans to close the four-legged intersection of Cornwallis, North Shiloh and Josephine roads from 4 a.m. Oct. 14 until 5 p.m. Oct. 21.
Drivers should follow on-site detour signs to avoid this junction, and they should expect a longer commute using the detours.
While the intersection is closed, S.T. Wooten will pour the concrete for the center island of the roundabout.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, after the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded the $3 million contract. Construction began last year.
