DURHAM – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin improvements on the Fayetteville Road bridge over Interstate 40 this week.
Work is scheduled to start Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. and will close both directions of Fayetteville Road nightly for about eight weeks. Crews will repair the bridge’s joints, concrete surface, and deck railing.
Traffic heading north on Fayetteville Road or west on I-40 will detour via I-40 East (Exit 278), N.C. 55, and I-40 West to reach Fayetteville Road. Traffic heading south on Fayetteville Road or east on I-40 will detour via I-40 West (Exit 274), N.C. 751, and I-40 East.
Drivers should expect delays, stay alert, and follow posted signs.
