RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will need to close a section of Alston and Angier Avenues so crews can safely install bridge girders at the Norfolk Southern Railway and Pettigrew Street bridges, along with water and sewer construction at the intersection of Angier Avenue and Alston. Weather permitting, work will begin tonight at 9 and reopen each morning by 6 for three weeks. No work is expected to take place during the weekends.
Traffic on Alston Ave. will need to take N.C. 147 to Fayetteville Street to Main Street.
Traffic on Angier Ave. will take Main St. to Hyde Park Ave.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan, remain alert, and obey all posted traffic signs.
