CLAYTON – Bridge work is set to close Interstate 40 West at U.S. 70 (Exit 309), starting Jan. 29, 2024 as part of Complete 540.
Weather permitting, westbound I-40 will close at U.S. 70 (Exit 309) at 10 each night Monday and Tuesday reopening at 5 a.m. the following mornings.
Drivers will detour at N.C. 42 (Exit 312), take N.C. 42 East to U.S 70 West and back to westbound I-40.
Traffic should use caution when traveling through the detour and be alert to construction crews working in the area.
