Safety Project Requires Permanent Road Closure in Eastern Wake County

RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation have permanently closed access from Major Slade Road to the gravel portion of Mial Plantation Road as part of an ongoing roadway safety project.

Crews plan to realign the curve where Major Slade Road becomes Mial Plantation Road to make the curve more gradual for drivers. The project requires closing the western access to Mial Plantation Road. The eastern access to Mial Plantation Road from Smithfield Road is open and will remain the only access point to Mial Plantation going forward.

Drivers should use caution and be mindful of construction crews working on the curve realignment over the coming months.
