NCDOT Announces All Trains Will Stop for Cheerwine Festival in Salisbury

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation's Rail Division announced today that all service on NC By Train, the state's passenger rail service, will stop in Salisbury for the annual Cheerwine Festival on May 17.

In addition to regularly scheduled trains stopping in Salisbury, Train 71 will stop in the town at 8:45 a.m. and Train 76 will stop there at 5:50 p.m.

To get to the festival, passengers can depart from Charlotte, Kannapolis, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, Cary and Raleigh. From Raleigh toward Charlotte, trains depart on the following schedule:

  • 6:30 a.m.
  • 10:00 a.m.
  • 12:25 p.m.
  • 3:15 p.m.
  • 5:30 p.m.

​From Charlotte toward Raleigh, trains depart at:

  • 6:45 a.m.
  • 10:25 a.m.
  • 2:20 p.m.
  • 5:00 p.m.
  • 7:45 p.m.

NC By Train carried 720,758 passengers in 2024. This represents a 12% increase over 2023 ridership of 641,000 passengers and a 55% increase since 2019, prior to COVID.
