WASHINGTON - The annual Division 2 Equipment Operators Safety Training Conference, or "Roadeo" took place last week in Washington, N.C.
Employees representing all eight of the counties in Division 2 participated in skill challenges to test safety awareness and skill level in operating heavy equipment.
These challenges included maneuvering equipment such as backhoes, motor graders and dump trucks through obstacle courses modeling real-life scenarios maintenance crews encounter each day on the job.
The goal of these friendly competitions is to highlight the importance of safety, while fostering a sense of team spirit amongst NCDOT employees.
Winning participants from Division 2, which includes Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico and Pitt counties will advance to the State Championship held in Concord later this summer.
